Welcome to the Legacy Project
Welcome to the Legacy Project homepage! This site is dedicated to explaining the ideals and motivations behind the Legacy Project, as well as encouraging people across the globe to become active participants in the Project. Whether you've stumbled across this page accidentally, or followed a link from a friend or another webpage, we hope that you will look around and explore this site.
The Legacy Project is a group of committed individuals whose goal is nothing less than the redesign of modern society. Currently, inefficient and unfair political systems span the globe, with an elite caste of power brokers ruling over the vast majority of the populace. Not only is this intrinsically unfair, it is marvelously inefficient. In holding with the great tradition of the socialist and technocratic movements, the Legacy Project has concluded that we must move forward, freeing ourselves from the hegemony that overpowers the rest of society.
The Legacy Project believes in the extension of democracy across the globe. Our goals are a redefined economic system in terms of 'energy credits,' units of currency which are based on the amount of energy required to produce an item. Such a system has precedents in Technocratic thought, as well as some famous socialists. A system of energy accounting would lead to greater economic equality, and promote greater efficiency.
However, more must be done than change the basic unit of currency. The entire economic structure of modern capitalism must be altered to produce a more equitable and just outcome. Ideally, all people who seek work would find it. All families would be provided with the basic essentials necessary for life, with jobs being a source of income for further luxuries. In a state where the day-to-day struggle to survive is surpassed, more creativity, scientific and artistic advancement, and progress in all fields is sure to result.
The concept of a ruling minority must also be done away with. Structures that interfere with democracy shall be eliminated, and governmental structures will be reduced and decentralized. In a similar fashion to libertarianism, small communities will be free to make their own political decisions independantly of others, unless this would prove detrimental to others. Individual liberty would be the hallmark of such a society.
These are merely the basic ideals behind such a society -- there is still much work to be done.
